Trailguru versus MapMyRide
If you want to spread the news I did a review of your app and site against MapMyRide and you came out on top, though the iphone app had a few more errors. Keep up the great work.
Review is here http://www.bikesarethenewblack.com
terrific application
Hi Tim
firstly, you have built a terrific application, used it yesterday, it works great, well done. I am a huge apple, fan especially the iphone and there is no doubt that it will be the next great mobile platform.
I am also the head of an organization called bicycles for Humanity www.bicycles-for-humanity.org
We send containers of used bikes, to Africa to support aids workers and to help all to a better life, details on our website
We are just going into Uganda, to set up the Ugandan Bicycle empowerment network with my friend Paul Sherwen, paul lives in Kampala, uganda and flies out for the one day events in the spring and the tour in July
We were thinking of building an iphone app, with some functionality that would identify locations collecting and sending bikes from here to namibia and uganda. We were thinking of a 99 cent app, all funds to go to shipping bikes to uganda and to drive interest in our cause. We also have a lot of corporate partners that might be interested in putting thier name on the iapp to help fund the cause.
Tim, writing to see if you are interested in exploring ideas
I can be reached at pat@bicycles-for-humanity.org
thanks
pat
again, great job, you have a wonderful and powerful app
OSM
I hope you also know and use OSM (openstreetmap.org) and their wiki ... ;-)
Another thing is: once a month I get an automatic email saying
- Sorry, Trailguru can only do updates with HTML email. Please visit http://www.trailguru.com/ui/reports/Katpatuka to get your update online.
Clicking on the link gives a Not Found error

feed back about the emails
Hi Tim, thanks for create trailguru. I've been starting to run again, and enjoying the various tools in tracking my progress. Trailguru is part of that.
I do have a complaint though. Like the previous poster, I get these emails telling me updates are only html. This seems to be happening because email updates are sent out with html content, and an error message in the text portion. Unfortunately, the 2 portions are considered equivlent, and it's up to the client to decide which to display. Simply omitting the text portion would be more correct. seph 05/09/2009 19:12 (GMT)
Facebook App Not Available
Hey Tim. I just started playing with Trailguru. It's a little hard to use, largely because of iPhone limitations, but overall an impressive application, website, etc.
I tried sharing a trail on Facebook but http://apps.facebook.com/trailguru/ gives me the standard Apache 404 page (you'd think that Facebook would have a nice user experience managed 404 page, wouldn't you?).
Virtual tour creator
Hi Tim,
First off, great app. I enjoy using it a lot.
I writing to you today because I created an app the generates KML virtual tours from track files. The track files from TrailGuru work with it. I wanted to see if you would be interested in partnering together and integrating this functionality into TrailGuru.
Take a look: http://krolik.net/KMLTours/
Best regards, Martin
API for posting Tracks
Hi Tim,
Is there an API that i can use so my users at livetrack24.com can POST their live tracks on trailguru ? Livetrack24.com was mainly developed for airsports but since recently i started running i would also like the possibility to view my running track in more details and analysis. See for example my morning run at http://www.livetrack24.com/live_show_track.php?user=Manolis&2d=1 I would like to be able to send this to trailguru for a nicer view. My project focus is mainly on live tracking and not so on post-view and analysis.
best regards
Manolis

iPhone 4 Version requested
Who do I need to talk to for this request? I'd really like to see an updated iPhone App that supports ios4 - particularly running in teh background. Here's the use case. I go for a walk / run, and my playlist runs out - so I drop out of TrailGuru to pick new music, while I'm doing this, I'd like TrailGuru to keep running in the background and tracking my run.
Thanks,
Jesse
