Route

All of the trails in Bukit Timah are well marked and signed. There are numerous huts to take shelter in if rain strikes and each hut on the circuit has a map of the preserve that you can use to navigate while on the run. The route below is basically the longest feasible one on the Bukit Timah trails -- there are numerous ways to short cut this down to the amount of running or hiking that you would like to do.

  1. Starting from the visitor center and looking uphill towards the summit, take South View trail for a short distance and then make a right onto Taban Loop as it climbs and decends back down to South View Path and reaches South View Hut.
  2. From here, follow Cave Path down to Catchment Hut and then take Catchment Path to the left.
  3. At Tiup Tiup Path, make a right and follow this down to Tiup Tiup Hut and then up to the junction with Dairy Farm Loop.
  4. Make a right on Dairy Farm Loop and follow this down to Dairy Farm Hut and then back up (very steeply) to North View Hut.
  5. At North View Hut, take a right and follow Seraya Loop past Seraya Hut to the junction with Jungle Fall Path.
  6. Take Jungle Fall Path past Jungle Fall Hut out to the main road. Turn left on this and run briefly on the pavement to reach the summit.
  7. Take Summit Path downhill to the junction with the main road. Take the road downhill for only a few meters and then make a left onto Catchment Path.
  8. When Catchment Path meets Rock Path, make a right and follow this down to the main road.
  9. At the main road, run a few meters again downhill and then make a left onto Kruing Path.
  10. Kruing Path will quickly connect up with South View Path. Make a right on this and follow it back to the visitor center.

Warnings

  • Dress for heat -- Singapore reaches 35C routinely.
  • Bring water and a bit of extra money on the ride to buy some more liquids. The local brand "100 Plus" is a isotonic drink that goes down well in this climate.
